This enhanced optical approach is taken from the digital image sensor world to significantly improve individual solar cell performance. A solar micro-array can realize superior efficiency with the use of a micro-optics treatment across each solar cell. With this method, our engineers expect improved quantum efficiency and 10% to 20% greater off-axis light absorption.

SunCore’s Silvaco® electron design automation software assists the engineering team by simulating lens performance to drive improvements at the photodiode level without lengthy and costly fabrication trials.
